Breaking My Pony’s Back

Acrylic on Linen, 16” x 20”

Seeing a group of horses on a farm in Spain brought back a memory from my childhood I hadn't thought about in years.  I had a babysitter who used to take me riding and she taught me how to stand on a horse while it was trotting.  It was such a happy time in my life, riding through wildflowers and baby strawberries and taking time to stare at the clouds.

Dammit, This Hair

Acrylic on Cotton, 8.75” x 10”

The Ireland landscape is breathtaking during the month of June, with flower blooms blowing in the breeze that leave you speechless.  But often the breezes become strong gusts of wind that threaten to knock you over when it catches the back of your knees.  Big curly hair doesn't stand a chance.

Stuck Where I Don’t Belong

Acrylic on Cotton, 24” x 20”

The mountains surrounding Lake Maggiorre were something I had never seen, creating vast triangles that laid as a backdrop for every sunset I watched.  I had been reflecting on my previous couple of years and how often I felt stuck and out of place in situations where I had thrived for decades.  Instead of staying stuck I chose change, the path harder to navigate but the only one that would get me out of there.
